Elizabeth Brosher Creecy was the daughter of journalist, lawyer, and author Richard Benbury Creecy and his wife, Mary B. Perkins. She was born in 1845 and attended St. Mary’s School in Raleigh. From 1861–1862, letters between Elizabeth and her parents reveal much of the turmoil suffered in the area of Pasquotank County during Union attack and occupation. Following the war, she married Duncan Cameron Winston, an Edenton lawyer.  Elizabeth died in 1921.
